🌑 THE REED ROADS · level 5 · 3-4 hours

Across four square miles of standing water run causeways nobody built and nobody mends. This summer a new one has come out of the water. It is beautifully made, it runs south-west, and it is eleven miles from finished. South-west is the town.

🪨 THE BORDER CAIRNS · level 4 · 3-4 hours

Every caravan the road has lost has a cairn here, and every traveller adds a stone. There is a new cairn with no name on it, and it has grown a foot and a half this month. It has been fed for four weeks by people being kind.

🕯️ LANTERNS AT CANDLE FEN · level 3 · 3-4 hours

One night a year the whole valley lights the hillside and reads the dead out of the register until dawn. This year the reading stops, and on a slope where nothing is buried, forty-one candles have lit themselves.
